What is Humic Acid and why should I be using it on my lawn?
Humic Acids contain high carbon content which provides food for microbes in the soil. An increase in microbial activity in your soil improves the soils ecology but the key benefit for your lawn is that Humic Acids grab and bond to micronutrients such as iron, copper, zinc and manganese allowing for them to be readily available for the plant to uptake.
In areas that are prone to sandy soils, the use of Humic Acid becomes even more important as micronutrients generally will leach from the soil due to its low cation exchange capacity.
Using Humic Acids regularly increases the availability of nutrients for your lawn, making fertiliser applications more efficient. Other benefits include, improving the drought tolerance of your lawn, helping to lower the pH of your soil to a more natural level and finally increasing microbial activity in the soil, which makes it great for root stimulation. All of these benefits help to promote an all round healthier lawn and soil.
